Lola's Journey

Adventure and education for teens. Education advocation, knowledge and traveling the globe.

  • On July 29th of 2024, I had the opportunity to go to the Dominican Republic with a program called GLA. Which Stands for Global Leadership Adventures. This program was fun, and it helped me grow more independent from my parents since I was traveling in the Dominican Republic by myself. My father took me through the airport, and then the next day, he dropped me off at the camp. During that time, I went on medical brigades and distributed medicine to the locals. We learned a lot about the state of the DR and why medicine is so scarce. This program opened my eyes and really showed me how much privilege I have, with easy access to medicine, clothes, and even air conditioning, which I took for granted before I came to the DR. I’m genuinely grateful for the opportunity to attend and learn more about my culture.

A cow staring at me on the last day, when we huddled around the table and told how much this vacation opened our eyes.

  • Welcome to my journey.
